Why Midrand / Kyalami?

Our Property portfolio is primarily centered around the Midrand and Kyalami area, which is one of the fastest growing nodes of development in South Africa. Strategically placed between the major centres of Johannesburg and Pretoria/Tshwane, with excellent road access via the N1 freeway, and close to both the International Kyalami Grand Prix motor racing circuit and the famous Gallagher Estate Convention Centre. However, ADAM INTERNATIONAL can also offer selected properties in areas such as Pretoria/Tshwane, Malvern East, Roodepoort, Krugersdorp, Bryanston and Cape Town.

Mark Adam Stein, Managing Director of the ADAM INTERNATIONAl Property Group, whose Company has a major stake in the Midrand and Kyalami area, says:

"Midrand and Kyalami are one of the greatest growing nodes we have seen in the last 20 years. Midrand is conveniently located, and many of the Top One Hundred Companies operating in South Africa have their headquarters there. Among them are ORACLE, BMW, SIEMENS, and VODACOM, to name just a few. We are able to build factories from 500 sq. metres to 20,000 sq. metres to house companies who either want to relocate or set up local headquarters in South Africa. We recently successfully completed the 10,000 sq. metre distribution centre and executive headquarters of Douglas Green Bellingham. We look forward to a tremendous future in the area"

The opening of a new highway Interchange on the N1 recently has provided further impetus for development in the area. This forms the northern flank of a swathe of development, and includes the Royal Palm Estate, the Capital Hill project, the Sanlam International Business Gateway, the Douglas Green Bellingham Development and the Broadwalk Development in the Midrand CBD, as well as the Old Mutual's Zonk'Izizwe development.

With most of the strip along the Eastern side of the N1 having been built up, development is fast gathering pace along the Corporate-focused Western side of the freeway.

More on the Midrand/Kyalami Area

Midrand's green strategies are also gaining momentum. It is expected the area's "Green Plan" will receive a major stimulus from from the international finance community, to help Midrand to achieve status similar to that of Brazil's Curitiba. The city is designed and developed to optimize the advantage of a compact city with a low-cost public transport system, and environmental concepts that make it sustainable. The city is aiming to reduce car usage, and has committed itself to key green principals such as thermally efficient homes, and effective water usage in which wastage will be addressed. Its office blocks are being reviewed to ensure they are either built or retrofitted to support the environmnent rather than fight it.

Mayor Amos Mosondo sees Midrand as an attractive option for companies relocating out of the Johannesburg city area, a move which is gathering tremendous momentum.

There are approximately 10,000 businesses located in the Midrand area.

Midrand Chamber of Commerce says in terms of job creation potential, the highest density of population in South Africa surrounds Midrand, with Tembisa, Rabie Ridge and Ivory Park communities on its doorstep. Midrand has also been identified as the biggest business tourist area in South Africa. A project with the Chamber of Commerce and the SAPS has successfully minimized business related crime.
